Central New Mexico's BIM Resource

Do any members have access to a laser point cloud they would be willing to share for educational purposes? I am looking for a scan of an interior space, perferrably commercial. Also, if anyone knows of a website I could go to to download a sample, I would appreciate the link. You can reach me here or by phone at 798-2419. Thank you! Bob

Hello Paul. I had not worked with them and what I was actually looking to find out was the format they are exported in. What I found out is that the majority of scanning companies convert the cloud into a .dwg. The resolution I have seen is incredible and is comparable to a photograph. The workflow is the same as with any other xref. I was trying to get ahead of the game to experiment with an example before our client released theirs. Thanks for the input!

Would be interested in seeing what you do with them.I have wanted to play with them more but don't have a scanner. I used a camera and autodesk photofly to create a quick and dirty point cloud of the exterior of my office to import in to Revit 2012 and AutoCAD. Cad has the new shape extraction tool to help draw over the clouds.

Autodesk did a big project at their office in Canada. Download sample files here
